Samsung’s latest premium smartphones are codenamed Star 1 and Star 2 and may debut in January of 2018.

Samsung has made a remarkable comeback since the battery issues of 2016.  The Samsung S8 and S8 Plus were well received and now the company is gearing up for the reveal of the Samsung S9 and S9 Plus smartphones. The new devices may be available starting in April 2018.

Samsung is slated to reveal more details about the anticipated devices at the CES 2018 in Las Vegas.

According to rumors, these premium handheld devices are codenamed Star 1 and Star 2 and will have very similar designs to the S8 and S8 Plus. The physical specs point to both S9 and S9 Plus having 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch curved Super AMOLED displays, respectively.

The internal components will consist of the Snapdragon 845 processor and the Samsung-made Exynos 9 chip (only available in certain regions) that offers comparable performance.

S9 and S9 Plus will also feature a dual camera system and a bump up to 6GB RAM (versus 4GB) for the larger S9 Plus.

Sound may be coming by way of stereo speakers from AKG and consumers may still be able to use analog headphones via the available 3.5mm headphone jack.

Following the January reveal, the company is expected to officially announce the S9 and S9+ with all the usual details in March as it did last year with the S8.

According to a patent filed by Samsung on the trademarking company Kilpin, the Samsung Galaxy S9 handhelds will have a fingerprint sensor on a small space on the front of the device.

This means that there will only be an extremely tiny space for the fingerprint sensor, which according to Wccftech, although it seems to be in a much better position.
Power for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will come from a bigger battery.
